# Viewing Readings

View readings for a site by selecting :MeterReadIcon: **Meter Readings** from the site menu. You can filter the list of readings by Water Account and Date Range.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - Readings that you have entered offline can be viewed and uploaded on the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SC/pages/2286682113](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SC/pages/2286682113) page.
> ℹ️ - If the water account you have selected is a Single Farming Unit (SFU or SWAA) with child accounts then you will see readings for all those accounts.
> ℹ️ - If you are viewing readings for *All* water accounts, any readings for disconnected water accounts will be included if they fall within your selected date range. These readings will be marked with a :retired: **Retired** icon.

# Entering Readings

> ℹ️ **Permissions**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You must have the METER READER role for an area or site to enter meter readings.

Add a meter reading for a site by tapping the **Enter Meter Reading** icon on the Site Details screen.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ On a small screen you will find this option by tapping the **More** icon

SiteConnect will show the estimated reading based on any order data available.

- When metered usage is significantly different from estimated usage, or if it exceeds the allocation for the authorisation, a warning is displayed but you can still enter the reading by tapping **Save** again.
- The entry precision is set in the *Meter Reading Decimal Places* attribute for the site in DMS or SCADAConnect. You must enter a value with at least this level of precision before it can be saved.

## Adding an Image to the Reading

Your system may be configured to require an image to be added to any reading that will be referred to a Planner. If so, you’ll be prompted to add an image when you save the reading.

> ⚠️ **Note**
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ If you are saving your readings offline, you will not be able to add reasons or images to the reading at this stage. Please save any images you will need on your phone so that you can edit the offline readings and add the images when you upload the readings.

## Add remote meter readings

If a meter can be read remotely, the :remRead: Remote Reading icon will be available in the Meter Reading field. Click the icon to fetch the reading.

## How do I enter a Meter Reading at a Shared Outlet

If the outlet is shared, you must also specify the water account that the reading is for. The planner will need to specify the water account before the reading can be accepted.

## What happens if I am offline when I take the reading?

You can still enter readings when you are offline. The readings are saved on your device as offline readings. You can upload them from the [Readings](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SC/pages/2286682113) screen when you reconnect to the network.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If you expect to be working offline you can:
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - Save parts of the map offline by [Configuring the Map Type](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2203419250/Sites+-+Site+List+and+Site+Map#Configuring-the-Map-Type) and [Configuring Offline Map Tiles](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2203419250/Sites+-+Site+List+and+Site+Map#Configuring-Offline-Map-Tiles).
> ℹ️ - Configure MeterConnect to save [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2207154236](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/MCN/pages/2207154236) including estimated readings, water account details, site images, and site notes.

# What happens if the reading is an estimate?

If the reading is an estimate you will be prompted to enter a reason for entering an estimate and the reading will be referred to a Planner. Choose an appropriate reason from the drop-down list provided or choose *Other*. You can also leave a note with the reading.

# What happens if the reading is out of range?

If the reading is outside the expected range (as configured for your network) you will be prompted to enter a reason and the reading will be referred to a Planner for review and the reading status will be set to *Variance Exceeded *and will appear on the planner’s Referred Readings list. You won’t be able to enter new readings for the site until the planner has reviewed the reading.

# What happens if there is a pending referred reading for the site?

If there is a pending referred reading for the site you will not be able to enter a new reading until the planner has reviewed the referred reading.

# What happens if the reading is for a site that does not deliver orders?

In some cases you may need to enter meter readings at a site that does not deliver orders. In this case there is no expected range for the reading and therefore there is no check for variance.

> ℹ️ **Example**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The site may be a diversion or a pipeline.
